Chiropractic adjustments (also called spinal manipulations) are precise, controlled movements that improve joint mobility and reduce mechanical irritation contributing to pain. By improving spinal mobility and reducing nerve irritation, adjustments support the body's natural healing process. This is the cornerstone of chiropractic care.

At Demsky Chiropractic, adjustments are tailored to each patient's condition, comfort level, and treatment goals. We use manual techniques as well as instrument-assisted methods (the Activator Tool) for patients who prefer a lower-force option.

Commonly used for lower back pain, neck pain, and sciatica.

Flexion-Distraction is a gentle, hands-on chiropractic technique that uses a specialized table to apply a controlled, rhythmic motion to the spine. It decompresses spinal discs, reduces nerve irritation, and improves mobility without the force of traditional adjustments. It's one of the most effective non-surgical options for lower back and disc conditions.

The table allows sections to move independently as Dr. Demsky applies targeted pressure, creating a pumping effect that promotes circulation, disc rehydration, and nerve decompression.

Commonly used for sciatica and herniated discs.

Cold Laser Therapy (also called Low-Level Laser Therapy or Red Laser Therapy) is a non-invasive treatment using specific wavelengths of red light to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and accelerate the body's healing process. Unlike surgical lasers, cold laser delivers energy without heat or tissue damage. It is quick, painless, and requires no recovery time.

Sessions typically take just a few minutes. Cold laser is especially effective when combined with chiropractic adjustments, as it supports the body's healing process while the adjustment improves mechanical function.

Commonly used for sports injuries, plantar fasciitis, and headaches.

Spinal Decompression Therapy uses a specialized motorized table to gently stretch the spine, creating negative pressure within the spinal discs. This negative intradiscal pressure draws herniated or bulging disc material back toward the center, relieves nerve compression, and allows oxygen, water, and nutrients to re-enter the disc, supporting natural healing from the inside out.

Sessions are comfortable, 15–20 minutes, and performed right in the office. The table alternates between gentle traction and relaxation phases to maximize decompression without causing muscle guarding.

Commonly used for herniated discs and sciatica.

Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate deep into soft tissue, generating gentle heat that promotes circulation, relaxes muscle tension, and accelerates the body's natural healing process. Unlike diagnostic ultrasound used in imaging, therapeutic ultrasound is specifically designed to treat musculoskeletal conditions at a tissue level.

The treatment is applied directly to the skin using a small handheld probe and conductive gel. It's painless, typically takes 5–10 minutes, and is often used as a complement to chiropractic adjustments and other passive therapies.

Custom orthotics are individually designed shoe inserts that correct foot and ankle biomechanics, redistribute pressure, and improve the alignment of your entire kinetic chain, from your feet up through your knees, hips, and spine. Unlike over-the-counter insoles, custom orthotics are fabricated from a detailed assessment of your foot structure, gait, and posture.

Dr. Demsky's own experience with custom orthotics as a high school athlete, resolving chronic knee and foot pain and improving his athletic performance, is part of what led him to chiropractic care in the first place.

Commonly used for plantar fasciitis and sports injuries.

The Activator is a small, spring-loaded handheld instrument that delivers a precise, low-force impulse to specific spinal joints or extremities. It produces a targeted thrust fast enough that the surrounding muscles don't have time to tense up in response, resulting in a more comfortable adjustment with no twisting or cracking required.

The Activator Method is one of the most widely researched chiropractic techniques and is ideal for patients who are uncomfortable with manual manipulation, are particularly sensitive, have osteoporosis, or need precise treatment of specific joints including those in the extremities.

Intersegmental Traction, commonly known as the roller table, is a passive therapy where the patient lies face-up on a specialized table fitted with rolling cylinders beneath the surface. As the rollers travel along the spine in a rhythmic pattern, they gently stretch and mobilize each spinal segment, increasing flexibility, reducing muscle tension, and improving circulation.

It's an excellent warm-up therapy before chiropractic adjustments and is often used to help patients who present with significant muscle guarding or stiffness. Most patients find it deeply relaxing.

Electrical stimulation (E-Stim) uses low-level electrical current delivered through electrode pads placed on the skin. The electrical impulses mimic the body's natural nerve signals, stimulating muscles and nerves to reduce pain, decrease muscle spasms, improve circulation, and support tissue healing. It's a versatile, well-established therapy used across chiropractic, physical therapy, and sports medicine.

E-Stim is typically used as part of a broader treatment plan to relax tight muscles before adjustments or to reduce post-treatment soreness and inflammation. The sensation is a mild tingling or pulsing. Most patients find it comfortable and often relieving.
